Training WI DCC in the 10 Steps Curriculum

As a part of its multi-year effort to fully integrate evidence-based principles into its policies and practices, the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, Division of Community Corrections, contracted with The Carey Group to deliver 10 Steps to Risk Reduction training to all its division staff. DCC is adopting the 10 Steps as its structured approach to supervision and risk reduction.

DCC is a statewide agency that supervises more than 68,000 offenders on probation, parole, or extended supervision. It is organized into eight regions, with more than 1,200 line staff and with 140 front-line supervisors and managers.

By the end of the eight-month training period, more than 1,340 line staff, supervisors, and managers in these regions will have participated in one of 44 Ten Steps to Risk Reduction two-day trainings. In addition, 11 trainers will have participated in a four-day train-the-trainer session in order to teach future staff the 10 steps.
