Restorative & Community Justice

A significant cultural shift occurred in the 1990s in both juvenile and criminal justice. Due in large part to the pioneering work of the late Dennis Maloney and other restorative justice advocates across the country, policymakers and their citizen partners recognized the fundamental value of adopting the principles and practices of restorative and community justice. This approach emphasizes victim input and services, community safety through prevention efforts, and offender accountability and competency development measures. Its hallmark is active and genuine citizen engagement in a partnership around addressing the well-being of victims, neighborhoods, and fellow community members.

The Carey Group is a strong proponent of community and restorative justice and has been involved in this grassroots movement since its inception. The Carey Group’s Partners and Associates provide training and technical assistance to assist governmental and community-based groups to improve the quality of life in their communities through this approach.
